TJ Jenkins joined the military after graduating from high school in Miami, Florida. TJ served 9 ½ years in Air Force Law Enforcement and, during that time, explored a vast array of cultures around the world. While on assignment in Las Vegas, he and a few of his buddies decided to take the test to join the LVMPD. TJ thought this would be a long shot because there were 4000 applicants at the time and only 40 openings, but he and his friends passed; now TJ has been on the force for 18 years, 10 years as a Sergeant. He has worked patrolling the streets and in Narcotics, but being on the streets is where his passion lies. He hasn't taken the test to become a Lieutenant, he says, because he refuses to end up behind a desk. To him, this is what policing is all about: being out in the community, protecting the people and the culture.

Officer Calvin Wandick is a California native who always knew that he would work in law enforcement. Because he helps young women get off the street and live better lives, he knows that working on the Strip is a great way to make a difference. Officer Wandick believes that every good officer is respectful, open-minded, and happy to work with the variety of people out there. Officer Wandick hopes to branch out one day and either work with SWAT or become a full time instructor in LVMPD’s Advanced Officer Skills Training unit. Either change would take him away from his partner, Officer Raquita Reyes, with whom, he says, no other officer compares. For now, you can find Officer Wandick on the Strip, dealing with everything from pickpocketing street performers to drunk drivers. Always looking out for the Vegas tourists, Officer Wandick offers some solid advice: “Contact your casino host to help you plan. There are so many things to do and so many methods to steal money. You can’t wing it anymore.”

For Officer Haynes, being a cop on the Strip is almost like working in an amusement park, constantly changing, very chaotic and always a good time. While on the job, he's seen everything from a car in the fountains to naked streakers to insane celebrity-filled after parties. He relies heavily on his communication skills to resolve problems in the least intrusive manner possible. Competing as a professional Mixed Martial Artist is a big part of who Officer Haynes is. The sport has helped him tremendously on the job, not because he fights more, but because the training helps make sure he doesn’t have to. On his down time, Officer Haynes likes to relax and train.

Officer Albert Reeder feels at home working for the LVMPD. Originally an electronics technician in the U.S. Air Force, he soon found himself tutoring fellow USAF members when he could. Since he has always enjoyed helping people, making the connection between his desire to lend a helping hand and law enforcement was an easy one. Officer Reeder loves meeting friendly people from all over the world while working on the Strip. He also realizes that tourists don’t always understand what’s going on and sometimes miss the gravity of certain situations, which is why he values his ability to be patient. Officer Reeder is fortunate to have a partner who shares his opinions about work, Officer Sean McIntosh. He sees their partnership as one of the reasons that he feels so comfortable with the Homeland Security Saturation Team. When away from work, he enjoys spending his free time in the gym with his workout partner, his wife.
