ALL NEW 10P FRIDAYS STARTING JULY 20 TV-14-DLSV

Behind the Badge

Sergeant Tom Jenkins

Sergeant Tom Jenkins

TJ Jenkins joined the military after graduating from high school in Miami, Florida. TJ served 9 ½ years in Air Force Law Enforcement and, during that time, explored a vast array of cultures around the world. While on assignment in Las Vegas, he and a few of his buddies decided to take the test to join the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. TJ thought this would be a long shot because there were 4000 applicants at the time and only 40 openings, but he and his friends passed; now TJ has been on the force for 18 years, 10 years as a Sergeant. He has worked patrolling the streets and in Narcotics, but being on the streets is where his passion lies. He hasn't taken the test to become a Lieutenant, he says, because he refuses to end up behind a desk. To him, this is what policing is all about: being out in the community, protecting the people and the culture.

Officer Sergio MPhillips

Officer Sergio MPhillips

For as long as he can remember, Officer Sergio MPhillips wanted to be a cop. Growing up in a suburb of Minneapolis, his childhood was at times challenging, but his loving mother always made sure to provide her only child with endless encouragement. With her support, he began working toward his goal by earning criminal justice and law enforcement scholarships for college. During college, he began working as a juvenile probation officer, getting his foot in the law enforcement door and honing his people skills. Using these skills, he is able to deal with the many intoxicated people who walk the Strip every night. While Las Vegas is, in his opinion, one of the best places to work, the Strip still has its own unique challenges. When he’s not serving and protecting, Officer MPhillips likes to relax and go for walks with his dogs.

Officer Sean McIntosh

Officer Sean McIntosh

A veteran of law enforcement, Officer Sean McIntosh joined the Las Vegas Metro Police Department over a decade ago. Known for being firm but fair, Officer McIntosh takes great pride in protecting the city that he calls home, making life a little better for tourists and citizens alike. Officer McIntosh credits his previous positions in Corrections and Juvenile Probation with helping him develop the sharp communication skills that he uses on a daily basis. He is testing for sergeant next year but feels completely satisfied working for the Homeland Security Saturation Team where he has developed strong relationships with a tight-knit family of men and women, especially Sergeant Tom Jenkins. When Officer McIntosh is not patrolling the Strip, he’s often enjoying its finer pleasures.

Officer Albert Reeder

Officer Albert Reeder

Officer Albert Reeder feels at home working for the LVMPD. Originally an electronics technician in the U.S. Air Force, he soon found himself tutoring fellow USAF members when he could. Since he has always enjoyed helping people, making the connection between his desire to lend a helping hand and law enforcement was an easy one. Officer Reeder loves meeting friendly people from all over the world while working on the Strip. He also realizes that tourists don’t always understand what’s going on and sometimes miss the gravity of certain situations, which is why he values his ability to be patient. Officer Reeder is fortunate to have a partner who shares his opinions about work, Officer Sean McIntosh. He sees their partnership as one of the reasons that he feels so comfortable with the Homeland Security Saturation Team. When away from work, he enjoys spending his free time in the gym with his workout partner, his wife.
