Swamp Terms
Honey Hole – n. A favorable dig site for a relic hunter that is full of great finds. Often relic hunters will return to old honey holes that had paid off, and continue digging deeper.
The Honey Island Swamp Monster – n. A mythical creature, similar to Bigfoot, indigenous to the Honey Island Swamp.
Chunk – n. Distance between two points in the swamp, equal to roughly one quarter mile.
Tawt – v. Taught
Redneck Archeologist – n. Someone out here in the swamp digging with no degree but loves history & holding the history in their hands.
Hogzilla – n. A male hybrid of wild hog and domestic pig. A hogzilla could be as big as 12 feet long and weigh up to 1000 pounds.
Swamp Holler – n. A loud call used in the swamp used to communicate over long distances when a group splits up.
Noodlin' Around – v. To mess around and waste time.
Muckin up – v. Messing up, Failing.
Yonder – n. Somewhere far away.
