Actress Lucy Liu once got a ticket for speeding in an electric-powered hybrid car. The chagrined Liu told David Letterman, "It's like getting a ticket for riding a skateboard too fast."

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak also got nailed in a hybrid—going 104 mph. He claimed he was confused by the difference between miles per hour and kilometers per hour, but the judge fined him $700 anyway.


Al Gore III

And Al Gore III, son of former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, was once pulled over for driving more than 100 mph in his Prius hybrid.

Eric Clapton was banned from driving in France and had his British license confiscated after being caught doing 216 kilometers per hour (134 mph) on a French motorway.

In 1955, a California Highway Patrolman gave actor James Dean a speeding ticket for driving 10 miles over the limit. Less than three hours later, the actor was killed in a car crash going an estimated 100 mph.

Naveen Andrews, Dominic Monaghan and Josh Holloway of "Lost" have all received speeding tickets in Hawaii, where they shoot that show. "I told [the cops] they should be embarrassed about giving me a ticket for doing 53 in a 35 zone," Holloway says. "I mean, come on! Go catch real criminals."

Lindsay Lohan received her first speeding ticket when she was 17.

Ben Affleck was apprehended for greatly exceeding the speed limit in Georgia, doing 114 mph on a 70 mph road.

Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston once got a speeding ticket while driving her daughter to school.

Mike Tyson was nabbed in Albany, NY, driving his Lamborghini 71 mph in a 30 mph zone. He was drag racing with a friend.

Singer George Michael has had five speeding convictions since 2000.

When Michael Jordan failed to show up in Kentucky traffic court to answer the charge that he had been driving 90 mph in his Ferrari, a judge had an arrest warrant issued for the basketball star. Jordan settled matters by paying the $102.50 fine by mail.

Conductor Oscar Levant once tried to explain a speeding ticket this way: "You can't possibly hear the last movement of Beethoven's seventh and go slow."

Kate Bosworth was once stopped by a Beverley Hills motorcycle cop for speeding—but she was able to talk her way out of a ticket.

Alec Baldwin

Police once stopped Alec Baldwin for driving 85 mph, but the officer let him go—he mistook Alec for his brother Billy, and the cop was a big fan of the movie "Backdraft."

Michael J. Fox claimed to be shocked that he was only given an oral warning after being pulled over for driving a Ferrari down Ventura Boulevard at 90 mph.

After driving 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, child star Emmanuel Lewis was able to get off with just a warning by posing for a photo with police officer.
