A ghost or spirit that manifests itself by noises, rappings or the creation of disorder. Poltergeists (German for "noisy spirit") are noisy and can throw objects. They pinch and prod humans and are generally disruptive. They may not be "mean" or "evil", just active, wanting to let people know they're around.

A Spirit refers to a person's living essence which has remained after her physical body has died. They can communicate with the living, unlike Ghosts, which tend to just be psychic impressions left in an area.
