Mark Mala Valera: The Butcher of Wollongong
Belinda Van Krevel
At his trial on March 1, 2001, Keith Schreiber pleaded guilty to the murder of Jack Van Krevel and told the court that after climbing in through a window, left open for him by his lover, Belinda, he snuck into Jack's room and began to attack him.
Schreiber told the court that Jack recognized him and called out "Keith" as he (Schreiber) began to "deliver him" and "assist his destiny" by stabbing him more than 50 times into his head, neck and torso.
"I just wanted it to be quick... (I said) die you f--ker, hurry up and f--king die," Schreiber said. "He (Van Krevel) rolled off and was going 'hey, hey, hey'... I got him a few more times... the f--king prick wouldn't die... resilient bastard.
"I said to him: This is from Mark you f--king paedophile bastard. You'll never molest kids again."
Schreiber told the court that he and Mark Van Krevel had met at school and became firm friends when they had similar tastes in Satanism, death and dismemberment. They eventually shared a flat together and spent most of their times preoccupied with talking about death.
Keith Schreiber was found guilty of the murder of Jack Van Krevel. On May 11, 2001, at his sentencing hearing, it appeared that Belinda Van Krevel may have solicited Schreiber to kill her father, Jack Van Krevel.
The court was told that the day before Jack Van Krevel's murder, Schreiber had spent several hours shopping with Miss Van Krevel, and had bought a pair of black woolen gloves that he had used during the killing.

On June 1, 2001, 20-year-old Belinda Van Krevel was charged with the murder of her father, Jack Van Krevel. At her committal hearing, the Wollongong Local Court was told that Ms. Van Krevel, a single mother with a $1000 a week drug addiction, had gone to "extreme lengths" to interfere with the police investigation into the mutilation murder of her father in August.
A police statement said that the extreme lengths included death threats, soliciting others to kill or harm witnesses and intimidation. Police alleged that Belinda Van Krevel had a deep hatred for her father and had asked several people to kill him. In the days before his death, Jack Van Krevel revealed to others that he had discovered that his daughter had taken a contract out on his life.
Belind Van Krevel was living with her father at the time of his death and raised the alarm, telling police that she had heard noises like someone being murdered coming from his bedroom. It was alleged by police that after the murdering noises ceased, her lover, Keith Schreiber, covered in blood, opened her bedroom door and said "Hey Babe, it's finished."
A police statement read out in court said that electronic surveillance and witness statements had identified the accused offering persons $2000 and a car to have witnesses, along with her mother, Elizabeth Carroll, murdered or seriously injured in an attempt to withhold their knowledge of her involvement in her father's murder.
Belinda Van Krevel was committed for trial on charges of murder and soliciting Keith Schreiber to murder her father.
