08/23/2009: Lindsay Lohan arrived home early Sunday, Aug. 23, to discover that her home had been burglarized: doors were unhinged and a safe ripped out of the wall. Though her mother says she was relieved that neither Lindsay nor her sister, Ali, were at home during the robbery, Lindsay has later "tweeted" that she does not believe it was a real robbery. "I know it was not a ROBBERY. Electronics weren't taken...just things that a certain old friend knew meant a lot to me."

Media reports indicated that the items stolen were "very incriminating photos and videos" and legal documents that could potentially "cause embarrassment if made public;" more cynical reports speculated that the deactivation of the home’s burglar alarm indicated that the burglary, the second at the Lohan residence in three months, could have been an inside job.
