Alaska: Fishing Boat Murders
The tiny village of Craig was shaken by the September 6, 1982, shooting murders of Mark Coulthurst, his pregnant wife Irene, their two young children and four others on board Coulthurst's sailboat The Investor. According to police reports, the killer boarded the boat, and, after killing its passengers, set it on fire, taking its skiff back to Craig. Two years after the murders, police arrested John Kenneth Peel (pictured), 24, a family friend who had worked on Coulthurst's boat. However, after two trials, the first of which resulted in a hung jury, Peel was acquitted and the murders remain unsolved.
