March 30: Miami Funeral Home Shooting
A gunman in North Miami, Fla., drove by and fired
on a crowd of mourners, mostly young people, at around 9:30 p.m., gathered outside the Funeraria Latina Emanuel funeral home for the funeral of Marvin Andre, 21, who died jumping off a parking garage as he fled from Bloomingdale's loss prevention employees. Two mourners were killed and 12 were injured. The shooting was deemed gang related, stemming from a dispute regarding how one mourner touched the body, which was seen as disrespectful by gang members and provoked the attack. It seems that police have yet to make in arrested in what is being called one of the worst mass shootings in South Florida history.
