Dominick Dunne: October 29, 1925 - August 26, 2009

Dominick Dunne was a society and crime writer and investigative journalist. His birth into a wealthy New England family gave him entrée to the upper classes of the American Northeast, while his family’s Irish Catholic heritage gave him an outsider's perspective on the foibles of the powerful and privileged. Dunne wrote regularly for Vanity Fair and published several best-selling books, romans a clef of such famous murders as those of Alfred Bloomingdale's mistress Vicki Morgan and of banking heir William Woodward Jr. He hosted truTV's series Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege, and Justice, in which he reported on notorious murder cases involving the rich or celebrated. Trials he covered include those of O.J. Simpson, Claus von Bulow, Michael Skakel, William Kennedy Smith, and the Menendez brothers. His presence at these trials, though, had a tragic genesis.
