John Travolta & Kelly Preston
10/22/2009: Shortly after the tragic January 2, 2009 death of their 16-year-old son Jett (left,) actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston became the target of an extortion plot that threatened to expose a photo of Jett taken with a cell phone inside the ambulance that brought him to the hospital. Jett passed away after suffering several seizures two days after the family had arrived at their vacation home in the Bahamas. Three people were detained in connection with the $25 million dollar plot: Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe, Bahamian Progressive Liberal Party Senator Pleasant Bridgewater and ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne. A four week trial against Bridgewater and Lightbourne ended in a mistrial on October 21, 2009, because Picewell Forbes, a member of Bridgewater's political party announced at a convention that Bridgewater "is a free woman," before the jury had finished deliberations.
