After nearly a year on the run, one of the United States' most wanted fugitives, Kenneth John Freeman, 45, was returned from Hong Kong to the U.S. to face charges that he had raped his daughter and posted images of the assault online. The former law enforcement officer and body builder began sexually abusing his daughter when she was 10, but the girl was unable to bring herself to tell anyone for another six years, when she was finally able to confide in her mother, Freeman's ex-wife. Freeman failed to appear for his arraignment and became an international fugitive. After his daughter discussed the case on the TV show America's Most Wanted, tips helped identify her as the victim in a series of widely-downloaded child pornography videos, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Video files depicting the abuse also were discovered on a computer Freeman had given to his daughter. On Dec. 17, 2008, Freeman pleaded guilty to three federal crimes: two counts of producing child pornography, one count of interstate transportation of a minor for the purpose of engaging in unlawful sexual activity, and three state charges of rape of a child in the first degree. In March 2009, Freeman was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
