Deojay got himself a public defender, Ramon Canning, and by Christmastime 2005 Canning and Deojay were pimping a story to the press that he "accidentally" struck Judy with his car and then panicked. Over and over, Canning told reporters that after Deojay hit Judy with his car, he didn't know what to do. So he hid her body.
The only problem with that excuse was that he hid Judy's body in an upstairs storage area of the pagoda on the property of Carroll Spinney's estate in plain sight.
By now, it was clear from the evidence that Judy Nilan had also been strangled. Scott Deojay had obviously watched Judy Nilan jog by the Spinney property or seen her around the neighborhood day in and day out and became obsessed with her. It would appear that he stalked Judy and finally, when he couldn't fight off the urge any longer, attacked her.
