In January, 2010, Sherry Harlan was stabbed to death in her apartment. Eric Christensen, the ex-boyfriend accused of killing her, claimed the two were Wiccans and and that Sherry had broken a blood oath, requiring Eric to kill her.

In December, 2001, the body of renowned scientist Robert Schwartz was found face down in his home. He had been stabbed repeatedly and an X was carved into the back of his neck. Nearly two months later, on February 1, 2002, his 20-year-old daughter Clara was arrested in his death. Clara, who was obsessed with the occult, had orchestrated his murder as part of a role-playing fantasy.
