Today in Crime History: Actress Virginia Rappe Dies After Falling Ill at a Wild Party

Beloved comedian of the silent screen, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, considered second only to Chaplin, was accused of rape and murder after Rappe died mysteriously on September 9, 1921, accusing him, "Roscoe hurt me." she had said. It would take three trials to sort out what happened. Though he was exonerated, Arbuckle’s films were banned and he was shunned.
