Today in Crime History: Ted Bundy Victim Disappears

On October 18, 1974, Melissa Smith, 17, a police chief’s daughter, was headed home after a night out with friends. She never made it, and a few days later her brutalized body was found. Though he was a suspect, it would not be until shortly before his execution that Ted Bundy would confess to her murder.
