Today in Crime History: Journalist Receives ‘Son of Sam’ Letter

On May 30, 1977, New York Daily News columnist Jimmy Breslin received a letter signed “Son of Sam.” The hand-written letter began, “Hello from the gutters of N.Y.C. which are filled with dog manure, vomit, stale wine, urine and blood.”
