So much for having a gun. An armed robber attempted to hold up a Long Island, NY, deli on September 25, 2013. He is shown by the surveillance video entering the business wearing a gray anorak and brandishing his semiautomatic at the clerk. He plops an Air Jordan back pack on the counter and demands money.
Rather than raising his hands and opening the drawer, however, the clerk, who is also the owner’s unidentified nephew, hesitates. He later said he thought the gun was a fake. The unidentified robber pulls the trigger firing one round that narrowly misses the clerk.
No longer hesitating, the clerk pulls out his trusty machete, unsheathes it and, rather deftly, chases the would-be robber out of the store swinging his weapon. Outside, comically enough, cameras show the young man continuing the chase across the parking lot and off the property, waving and slashing his, apparently legal, machete.
