Police in Clark County, Indiana, are really cracking down on woodland creepers. This month, six men have been arrested on suspicion of soliciting sexual favors in the county’s parks.
Fortunately, police say these arrests are unrelated, meaning there was never a posse of pervs prowling the forest for victims. The sting operation that netted the alleged deviants was triggered by a series of public complaints. A spokesman for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said that police “had apparently been fielding complaints from the public of problems we had in the past referencing suspicious activity that was sexual in nature.”
According to police, one of the arrested men, Samuel Elmore, 64, was engaged in a casual conversation by an undercover officer at Falls of the Ohio State Park. After a brief chat about the weather, Elmore allegedly “reached up the shorts of our officer and attempted to touch the genitalia of the officer.”
About an hour after the Elmore run-in, police came upon Carlos M. Berrios, 47, who was allegedly masturbating.
At Clark State Forest, officers just had to wait and purported forest-dwelling feeler-uppers flocked to them. In a parking lot of the park, 69-year-old Michael Mount allegedly pulled up next to an officer, flashed his brights and exposed his goods.
Another officer was sitting on a log when Michael Wooten, 51, allegedly approached him and reached into his shorts after noting, “Sure is private around here”
Curtis Gregory, 75, and William Gallman, 57, were both found allegedly masturbating in view of officers that same day.
All six men are charged with public indecency.
