You never really know your neighbors until you find them naked and hiding from the law in your dryer. With this in mind, the events of the morning of Wednesday, May 29, 2013, would prove enlightening for the folks who live near Morse and Hutton Streets in Linwood, Ohio.
A young couple kicked off the morning’s events by calling 911 when, returning home, they saw a man lying unconscious on the side of the road. Uncertain if he was injured, alive or even possibly dead, they tried to get him some help.
Police arrived to find that the unidentified man was actually one of the couple’s neighbors, an extremely inebriated, passed-out-cold Shaun Welsh, 39. The medics got him up, checked him out, saw that he was okay and, since he wasn’t making an active nuisance out of himself, walked him safely home — stay tuned. Believing that the drunken escapades of Shaun Welsh were finished for the night, they left.
Moments later, witnesses say, Welsh emerged from his house wearing only boxers. At first he strolled down the middle of the street, then he started trying to break into various houses on the street and ran through at least one yard. Alarmed, the neighbors again called 911.
This time when police arrived Welsh was nowhere to be found. In fact, it reportedly took than about 45 just to find him, at which point the drunk man rabbited. Officers gave chase, and lost him near one of the nearby homes.
It is unclear what events led police to search the home, but they did. That’s when they found Welsh — buck naked, in his neighbor’s dryer. Sadly, there is no video of the event.
Welsh was arrested on a single count of misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Welsh is reportedly no stranger to the inside of a jail cell, having a lengthy criminal history, including several prior convictions for breaking and entering. He waived his right to a trial and was sentenced to five days in jail.
