On March 22, 2013, he was convicted and sentenced to 30 years with no possibility of parole in Perry, Georgia, for his part in the strangling, beating murder of Arthur Klaffka. Slaton, his brother and another man allegedly argued with Klaffka on April 10, 2012, and accused him of telling police that that the trio was behind a robbery committed two days earlier. They allegedly killed him, cleaned up the scene and dumped the body.

He also pleaded guilty to the robbery, which carried a sentence of 30 years too. In all he will serve 30 years in prison and 30 years on probation for the robbery and for driving the vehicle that transported Klaffka’s body to the Ocmulgee River where it was dumped.
