When you’ve sold your TV, your car, and your dignity, that little brat that’s always following you around must start to look like a money making opportunity.
Cops in Kingsport, Tenn., say Shawn Wayne Hughes, 32, tried to sell his 6-year-old daughter for $1,500 in order to secure bail money for his girlfriend. He’d allegedly offered to sell the child to a 75-year-old family member, who contacted police. When Hughes was supposed to meet the buyer in a parking lot to trade kid for cash, police showed up instead and arrested him.
Hughes should meet Misty VanHorn of Sallisaw, Ok., to discuss priorities, love and money. Last month, the 22-year-old mother of two was arrested for allegedly trying to sell her kids so that she could bail her boyfriend out of jail. According to an alleged Facebook exchange with a potential buyer, VanHorn doesn’t really know how sales work. Police say she was offering one kid for $1,000 or both for $4,000. That’s two for the price of four.
VanHorn was charged with child trafficking.
Sadly, this isn’t the first, second, or even tenth time that a parent has tried to sell her kids in recent times. It’s happened to often that we’ve amassed a whole slideshow.
