A former high school water polo coach from San Mateo, Ca., nearly collapsed in court after hearing the judge read his sentence: two years in prison and a lifetime on the sex offender registry for reportedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
SFGate reports that Joshua David Tatro, 26, pleaded no contest in January to felony counts of sexual penetration of a girl under 18 and sending pornographic material to a minor with the intent of seduction. According to authorities, Tatro had sent the victim, a player on his team, photos of his genitals on his phone, and received photos back from her.
Another girl on the team reportedly told police that Tatro had invited her to sleep over.
When his sentence was handed down, attorney Chuck Smith told SFGate that Tatro was shaking and “started to go down and [Smith] caught him and gently sat him down. But he got right back up and sat through the remainder of it.”
