Police in Rio Perplexed by Giftwrapped Skulls Found

The morbid packages began appearing on February 20, 2013. The first, in red wrapping paper, was left in a planter near a downtown residential building. Since then, seven more festively-wrapped skulls have been left “near Mormon temples or consulates, including those for Russia, the Czech Republic and South Africa.”

Police announced that a security camera video did capture the image of a woman in a long skirt placing and leaving one of the bizarre presents. Investigator Paul Henry Bozon Verduraz believes that this may be part of some macabre ritual.

Examination of the skulls reveals that they are old and have traces of dirt on them.
