According to AP, reports that “dead bodies are rising from their graves” and “attacking the living” are vastly exaggerated, in fact it seems that hackers broke into Michigan’s Emergency Alert System on February 11, 2013, and, as a prank, entered an emergency broadcast that stated just that.
The messages contained warnings of zombies and appeared on WNMU and WBUP as well as two stations in Montana in the form of a crawler and an audio message. According to station manager Eric Smith, steps have been taken to assure that hacks like this do not happen again. He added that police believe that the perpetrators may have accessed the system from another county. No arrests have been made.
Please note, the above photo does not depict an actual flesh-eating zombie, although it’s a pretty good likeness. Were there an actual zombie emergency, we would let you know.
