Man Charged With Animal Cruelty for Biting Off Baby Bird’s Head

A Kentucky man may find himself a jailbird after a grotesque Youtube video caught the attention of authorities. Bradley Heard, 29, is charged with second-degree animal cruelty for allegedly biting off the head of a baby bird. In an interview with police, Heard allegedly said that he was so drunk that he did not remember the 45 second video being recorded or posted to Youtube.

According to what he told deputies, Heard was annoyed by the chirping sounds made by group of birds that had settled into the eaves of his Rockfield home. During a get-together at his house last June, Heard reached up and grabbed a baby bird out of a nest and bit off its head. The camera shows Heard approaching with the head still in his mouth, then pans to the bird’s lifeless body. A man’s voice behind the camera is heard saying “bite the other one,” and “that’s just awful, Bradley.”

Heard is due in court on February 19.
