It was Christmas 2012, at about 1:30 in the afternoon and, luckily, The Ranch daycare center was closed and completely devoid of children. Police in Dallas County Texas reportedly chased the suspect in a stolen car for about 12 miles before temporarily losing him on an empty stretch of road. Maybe he jettisoned the car, maybe he hid it, but a burglar alarm a couple of hours later at the nearby daycare center refocused the search.
When police arrived they found the suspect’s wallet on the sidewalk outside, with a driver’s license conveniently identifying him as Brad Edward Bell, 42. They also found his shirt, jeans and underwear. After surrounding the building, police entered and checked surveillance cameras, which showed naked-guy Bell milling around the day care center, rooting through drawers. At around 5:30 police announced their presence, and the suspect ran to the attic and covered himself with a blanket, but eventually surrendered. He was arrested for burglary, and held on a $50,000 bond.
