On December 18, 2012, at about 4 a.m., neighbors in Longview, Colo., reported hearing gunshots coming from a trailer home. At the same time a woman inside the home called 911. According to Weld County Sherriff Tim Schwartz, the only words the dispatcher heard from the woman were, “‘No, no, no,’ and then gunshots.” He added, “A male party then picks up the phone and says he’s going to kill himself. The dispatcher hears another gunshot.”
Deputies raced to the trailer home to find four dead, two men and two women, and one handgun. Not many details have been released at this point, but Denver Westword.com reports that at least three were adults, and that it looked like a murder-suicide.
USAToday.com reports that on December 15 a woman, 25, who lived in that trailer told police that her ex-boyfriend held her hostage for hours that day, assaulted her and stole her phone before releasing her. The report continues stating that police arrested that man, 31, the next day. He was reportedly released from jail just a few hours before the murders. The victims have no been identified pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
