A Cleveland woman caught on camera passing a stopped school bus on the sidewalk has been handed an embarrassing punishment. A judge has ordered Shena Hardin, 32, to stand at an intersection wearing a sign that reads ”only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus” for two mornings from 7:45 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. The corner of E. 38th Street and Payne Avenue where Hardin will stand with her shameful sign next Tuesday and Wednesday is the location of her crime. In addition, her license is suspended for 30 days and she must pay $250 in court costs.
A video captured by a school bus driver shows Hardin’s silver SUV swerving onto the sidewalk to avoid the school bus while it was stopped to unload children. In the video, the driver is heard saying “here she comes, here she comes,” indicating that this was a repeated behavior.
Back in September, Hardin pleaded not guilty to charges of not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation, but changed her plea Monday to avoid a trial.
