A Seminole County, Fla., woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for beating to death an aging family dog. According to her in-laws, Evita Williams, 26, entered their house when no one was home and broke into the locked bedroom where the dog was kept. She then took the 14-year-old canine, named Ginger, in the yard, covered it with a blanket and beat it to death with a softball bat. According to Williams, she killed the dog because it had bitten her son; the dog’s owner says the bite was minor and occurred ten months earlier. Around the time of the incident, Williams’ husband, Richard Williams, was also arrested for stealing electronics from his parents and pawning them.
