Lucky (inset) and Mojave Desert
- San Bernardino County Sheriffs are investigating after a Newberry Springs, Calif., woman’s dog, ‘Lucky,’ came home with a human foot and attached leg bone. The dog’s owner, Erica, saw Lucky with something on the front porch. She expected to see a bird or other small animal and was horrified when she saw what he was carrying, “It didn’t seem like it was real…It was freaky, scary and I was in shock.” She called the Sherrif’s Department, whose investigators searched a stretch of I-40 in the Mojave Desert, and found more body parts.
-
- Investigators did not list which body parts they found, but did say that they cannot determine the race or gender of the remains. They have not announced whether there is a single victim, or multiple, but have ordered DNA testing on the body parts. In the meanwhile, detectives are scouring missing person reports and appealing to the public for information.
-
- Anyone with information about the remains is urged to call Detective Randy German or Sgt. Brad Toms at 909-387-3598. Anonymous tips can be left on the We Tip hotline, 1-800-78-CRIME
