When a man was stopped for shoplifting at a Louisville, Ky., Walmart, his companion, Rolando Almenares, 39, allegedly had a back-up plan. Police say Almenares told a witness that he is a police officer, and that he and his shoplifting friend are part of an undercover program. Almenares then allegedly showed the witness a toy police badge and handcuffs. The witness didn’t buy it and called police, who arrested Almenares on a felony charge of impersonating a peace officer. Even when police arrived at the scene, Almenares allegedly continued insisting that he is an undercover officer.
