Zombies destroy real culture

When Pride and Prejudice and Zombies came out a couple of years ago, we all laughed. "That's funny!" we said- let's take a boring, dumb "girl novel" and make it AWESOME by adding zombies!" While this idea and now genre is funny, here's the butt of the joke: literature. Jane Austen may not be for everyone, but her work has endured for centuries and will continue to be widely read 200 years after her death. If half the people who read these parody novels challenged themselves with the real thing, this country would be far less stupid.
