Maria in 'Frankenstein' (1931)

We know the iconic Frankenstein monster didn't mean to drown little Maria, he was just playing a game of "throw the pretty things in the water." But what part of "don't talk to strangers" does this girl not get? And how about steering clear of monstrously huge strangers? This is especially true if they are made of dead body parts. And those metal bolts in his neck weren't any kind of red flag at all?
