Just because free love and feminism were on the rise in the 1960s, it doesn't mean that people weren't still complete morons when it came to sex and relationships. Some conservative minds continued to view the act of intercourse as being solely for the man's enjoyment (WHAT?), and homosexuality was frequently referred to as a "disease" that needed to be "cured."
