The old adage "cheaters never win" isn't entirely true. Cheaters usually do win, up until they get caught. Cheaters always get caught. But it's the journey, not the destination that matters, right? Sometimes it feels like cheating is the American way. People cheat on their spouses, try cheat the IRS and Google cheat codes for popular video games. Maybe the American way is just the easiest route between here and win.

But when it comes to sports, Americans have a zero tolerance policy. Because sports is serious business. Who wants to gamble on a game if some jerk is cheating? Not this degenerate. There is a long, dark history of cheating in professional sports and here are eight of the dumbest examples.
