Etan Patz, The Boy On The Milk Carton
Etan Patz was the first missing child to have his photograph pasted on the front of milk cartons. In 1979, Etan left his Soho apartment to walk to his school bus pick-up spot. Two eyewitnesses saw him waiting at the corner — but no one ever saw him again. Three years later, cops named their first suspect: Jose Antonio Ramos, who admitted he tried to lure a boy matching Etan's description back to his apartment but decided not to go through with it and left the boy on the subway. Ramos was never charged with Etan's disappearance, but served 25 years on a child molestation conviction from a different case.
