A deeply religious man, Billie Bob Harrell Jr. thought that God was finally smiling on him when he won $31 million on a Quick Pick in 1997. Harrell was a miracle worker, buying friends and family whatever they wanted. But it all became too much. The tension of being hounded for money wore at him, ruining his marriage and his life. In May 1999, Harrell locked himself in a room in his house, stripped naked and shot himself in the chest.
