The Miracle On Ice
Considered unbeatable, the USSR's 1980 Winter Olympic team was expected to cream a U.S. team composed of inexperienced college players. But the U.S. pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history, 4-3, going on to win the gold. The Soviets were so unbeatable that rumors persist today that they were ordered to throw the game in order to appease Jimmy Carter, who was threatening to boycott the 1980 Moscow Summer Games.
