Blackwater
Academi, then known as Blackwater, is a security company that protected U.S. diplomats and property during the Iraq War. When reports surfaced in 2007 in the New Yorker and other media that Blackwater employees had been threatened with indictment for murdering Iraqi civilians, the State Department ruled that the company was immune from overseas prosecution.
"In August 2010," according to their Wikipedia page, "The company agreed to pay a $42 million fine to settle allegations that it unlawfully provided armaments and military equipment overseas."
