Rio Mudslides

Rio de Janeiro's favelas — tin shack shantytowns — feature some of the most prevalent poverty in the world. Now Rio, soon to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, has ordered the removal of one of the smaller favelas that just happens to sit beside a high-class suburb, using the excuse of potential mudslide risk and public safety. Rio has long been embarrassed by the favelas; how many more of them will be cleaned out by force using the fig leaf of safety as 2014 approaches?
