News Corp Spy Scandal
In 2011, one of media magnate Rupert Murdoch's main brands, News of the World, became gripped by a phone hacking scandal. Nearly 20 employees have been charged with hacking into subjects' phones and voicemails to get a lead on a story. Among the allegations: a NewsCorp reporter hacked the voicemails of 9/11 victims. Murdoch and his son, James Murdoch, NewsCorp's Chairman, have claimed no direct knowledge of the actions, but pressure persists upwards.
