1963, Earth's Orbit

While completing a solo orbit of the Earth in 1963, the decorated Mercury Astronaut Gordon Cooper saw a greenish, glowing object approach his capsule. (The object was also recorded by radar.) Major Cooper believes that this object was a UFO and the government seemingly went to great pains to ensure that neither Cooper nor the news media spoke of what he saw while flying through space.
