1950: Mexico

It all began in, of all places, Mexico City. In 1950, American businessman Ray Dimmick claimed that he and two associates saw the wreckage of a UFO that had crashed into a mountain. At first Dimmick described the craft as being 48 feet in diameter. He also said that it was piloted by a 23 inch tall alien who didn't survive the crash, and that the site was being cleaned up by American military personnel. Washington denied his allegations. Later, Dimmick retracted nearly all his statements and made it sound as if his UFO was nothing more than a piece of stray scrap metal.
