In 1988, Busey had just picked up his newly repaired Harley motorcycle in Los Angeles when, 100 feet from the showroom, he slid on gravel at 40 mph. He flipped over the handlebars and smacked his helmet-less head hard against the curb. The actor's skull cracked and he slipped into a monthlong coma.
