It's the Facebook note they don't want you to click "Like" on.

"Dead/Jailed/Missing Scientists & Individuals Affiliated with the BP Oil Disaster" is the viral Facebook post that actually delivers on its promise. It's a list of people who are dead, jailed or missing, and they all kind of sort of had something to do with the BP oil spill.

The note doesn't explicitly accuse BP of crossing names off its own little Beatrix Kiddo hit list, but it does clearly beg the question, "Is BP killing off people who might try to hold them accountable for the damage they've done to the Gulf Coast?" Not likely.

Seasoned conspiracy theorists wouldn't bother to give this note the slightest paranoid glance-over. The connection being made is haphazard, inaccurate and, well, bat****-crazy. Just take a look at the third entry on this list, Dr. Thomas Manton, president of the completely made-up "International Oil Spill Control Corporation" (that business must have really taken off last year). The note states that Manton was imprisoned and murdered while in jail. Nefarious! Clearly the work of fat cats who framed this brave oil-spill controller.

Now if someone would just murder this awful logo.

Actually, someone under that name was arrested for possession of kiddie porn, and during his trial he made no mention of his oil-spill biz but did name-drop the prime minister of Pakistan as his adopted sister. He might not have been in the oil-spill control game yet because the arrest happened way back in 2007, a good three years before the BP spill.

So naturally, BP must have been planning this spill for at least three years and they knew they had to silence the Pakistani prime minister's adoptive brother before he got the chance to get into oil-spill control and bring the entire company down. Conspiracy!

Even stranger, there seems to be no proof that Manton is deceased at all.

I won't bother to go into the others, except to say that mentioning Roger Grooters, who was killed in an accident during a cross-country charity bike ride benefiting victims of the spill, is borderline insulting to his family. And one final thought for those looking to expose evil conspiracies on their Facebook wall: Leave the pedophiles off your roll call of silenced martyrs. You're just making it really hard for folks to hop on board.
