13 Terrorist Attacks Almost As Terrifying As 9/11
Bali Nightclub Bombings
Described as "the worst act of terror in Indonesia's history," the 2002 attacks on two of Bali's most popular nightclubs left 202 people dead and 209 suffering from burns and other wounds. A suicide bomber walked into Paddy's Pub and detonated his backpack bomb. As panicked partiers rushed into the street another, much larger bomb in the back of a Mitsubishi van went off across the street. Three men were arrested, tried and executed by the Indonesian government, but authorities believe that others are still at large. Jemaah Islamiyah, an organization with links to Osama bin Laden, has claimed responsibility.
