TWA Flight 800
Only 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 took off from JFK Airport but never reached Paris. Shortly after taking off, it exploded into flames, killing everyone aboard. A four-year-long investigation pointed to a short circuit as the cause. But one member of the investigating team, as well as numerous eyewitnesses, are convinced a missile brought down the aircraft. The National Transportation Safety Board is not amused, citing its own investigation as being one of the most detailed ever conducted. The debate over the supposed "streaks of light" seen prior to the explosion continues.
