20th Century Conspiracies: The Kathryn Olmsted Interview
The Trojan Horse: Mother of All Conspiracies
Olmsted says that the earliest known conspiracy may have happened in the bronze age when "the Trojans discovered there were a lot of Greeks conspiring inside that horse." Legend has it that, after a ten-year war to capture the city-state of Troy, the Greek army crafted a large wooden horse, hid 30 soldiers inside and sailed away. The Trojans moved the horse inside their walls and celebrated. During the night, the men emerged from the horse and unlocked the city gates, allowing the Greek army, which had surreptitiously returned, to enter and win the war.
