Believe the conspiracy theory or not, the Illuminati is real and was founded in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt, who once remarked: "When man lives under government, he is fallen, his worth is gone, and his nature tarnished." And perhaps more prophetically: "Of all the means I know to lead men, the most effectual is a concealed mystery."
